Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid

Have you ever seen "Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid" with Paul Newman and Robert Redford? Do you know where it was filmed? In Colorado around Animas River in the San Juan National Forest.

The best way to see those places is to travel by Colorado's Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Rialroad. It is a National Historic Landmark, originally opened 1882 by Denver & Rio Grande Railway to transport silver and gold ore. Today it operates as one of scenic railroads and attracts many tourists year around.

The gauge is only 3ft what is quite narrow comparing with standard 4ft 8 1/2in wide. It is one of the very few places in US which use steam locomotive. And it is absolutely amazing!

Those 45 miles between Durango and Silverton takes 3 and half an hour one way. You can experience  history with this breathtaking sights passing trough canyons and wildlife of San Juan National Forest.
